The Dumbing Down of America

What is there to talk about in this world of stupidity?  With technology and the lack of individual's reading and the proliferation of reality TV (which of course is an oxymoron), more and more of our youngsters are being raised to be stupid.  There is nothing more inherently intelligent than a newborn baby (tabula rasa: blank slate), yet we take away from that intelligence by informing children that reading is boring and they should stick to their cell phones in order to become obsessed and forget about any sort of personal interaction.  We allow this to happen more and more often because parents themselves have become so taken with the new technology that children grow up seeing their fathers and mothers glued to their iPhone screens.  How are children supposed to know any better when they are introduced to this technology at such a young age, and after that, it never leaves their hand.  I was at a restaurant the other day; there were six young men around a table, all of them on their phones. Today, I saw two women sitting together at a Dunkin' Donuts; they were both hypnotized by their phones and didn't pay any attention to each other.  This is just the beginning.  Reality TV has reduced the people of this world to absolute blithering idiots.  Besides, there is no such thing as reality TV; it is rehearsed just as thoroughly as a dramatic TV show.  How can people fall for such unadulterated idiocy?  It just shows that the intelligence level of the U.S.--as well as around the world--has dropped considerably.  I'd hate to see what the IQ level of most adults and children is.  I'm sure it has declined to an alarming extent.  I hate what this country has become.  Most of all, I hate the majority of the people who live in it.
